This series involves my imagining what people who are not Californians have on their minds when they think, dream or fantasize about the’ golden state’ and what image or images could symbolize those thoughts.
California being the nation’s fruit and nut basket, I ended up with a generic type of tree … could be citrus, nut, peach, pear, etc. All these ‘food’ trees have the same general ‘lollypop’ shape and I chose to repeat these shapes in the works in this series to suggest their multiplicity. The titles are various California towns.
